New LA Marathon Course Announced!

The actual street-by-street details of the new LA Marathon course were announced to say and as a native, let me tell you that this will be a magnificent run and a HUGE upgrade from years past. Finally, we just might have a world-class marathon worthy of this great city of mine.

I'm more familiar with the 2nd half of the course since I reside in West LA, and those are certainly where some of the highlights for me will be. Specifically, being able to run down Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills/Westwood and then finishing down famous (and downhill) San Vicente Blvd in Brentwood. I think any runner who have run down these streets can attest to how truly awesome that will be.

Have not signed up yet, but barring further setbacks to my injured foot, I hope to see you guys toeing the starting line with me on March 21, 2010!

That does look like fun. I've never been to LA (or Cali for that matter...I know right?? no Disneyland as a kid?! Cruel parents!).

I'm registered for Oceanside 70.3, which is the weekend after, but I'm thinking about doing the marathon instead! Should be a great race!

Living up here in Santa Barbara I have never had the desire to run LA. Until now. This looks like a cool course.

I'm planning on running it! I lived in West LA too so I'm all too familiar with the last part of the course. That last 2.5 downhill sounds great!

I read about the course change in the Competitor magazine. the new route sounds like it would be a lot of fun! And bands playing music along the way...? I'll see how my first marathon goes, and if all goes well, I'd def want to run the LA one!

Gosh-darn it, Billy! I had 90% decided NOT to run LA because I would have to start training right after CIM and I'm a bit burnt out and this post is making me re-consider all over again!

Grrrr!!!

But also: ♥♥LA♥♥

I might line up to run that one. The course looks sweet. I have not run a marathon in a year and a half so I think it will be time to lower the PR a bit.
