Meb's Mojo

I need some of it right about now.

After a disappointing 2008 year for Meb Keflezighi in which he spent most of working back from a stress fracture of the hip, many (including yours truly) counted him out. But he battled back and dare I say, even better than ever this year winning the Houston Half Marathon in January, a national cross country win later in the year before finally winning the ING NYC Marathon this past weekend.

What a comeback year for Meb. And when I heard he would be in Niketown in Beverly Hills tonight, I had to come by and steal some of that mojo. Didn't stick around for his speaking engagement and autograph session, but I did manage to get him to autograph my brand new pair of Nike Lunarglides that I just purchased. They will be my comeback shoes.

While I'm not running any real distances yet, I'm going to keep battling and hope that it will all come together soon. Foot's still throbbing in that spot at times, so I know it's not a 100% yet. After almost 14 weeks on the shelf, it's been difficult to keep my hopes up. But they are. And I fully intend on coming back better than ever.

Absolutely channel that Meb mojo into yourself! I am. I don't care if I have the running blahs now... I know it won't last forever. And when the blahs are gone, I will cherish what I do out there whether it be 2 miles, 10, or 20. Every step. Did you see this great quote Meb gave a reporter when he was down for the count after the Trials? "Cherish it. It's a beautiful thing, when you can click the miles along. It's a beautiful thing, and you better cherish it." It's my new sig line on RW. :)

I love meb! I wish I didn't have a lame ass job and I could have come up there to meet him! :) Thanks for making me covet your new shoes.

Those shoes have 'major comeback' mojo written all over them! Awesome!!!

Stay healthy, don't run too early and keep it up, dude!

(I can't believe Malibu is next week! GAAAH!)

Cool shoes. They look fast and comfy. Nike seems to be making some really sensible running shoes lately. And the autograph doesn't hurt either. Your anticipation of a run must be intense. I know how it feels. Even though we're kind of in opposite situations right now. I can run but can't mountain bike (closed forest.) You can mountain bike but can't run. Want to trade places for a week? Get well soon.

I'm slightly green with envy that you got to meet Meb twice and get your shoes signed. Those shoes are just what you need for your comeback. Can't wait to see you sporting them.
