Unbreakable

Yes, I know I'm tempting fate with this title. But screw it. I'm just happy to be running again.

It's true. After 11 whole days off (I know, I know), I decided I couldn't take it anymore and laced up my Newtons yesterday. I was literally going crazy. The result? 3.5 miles, foot pain-free. And almost a couple of weeks worth of aggression unloaded.

Today, I laced up my running shoes again and did 4 miles. Again, pain-free.

While I'm still apprehensive about each step I take, I'm slowly gaining more and more confidence about running like the old me. Amazing what some rest and hoards of calcium will do for your body.

Hope this isn't a fluke but as of right now, it looks like San Francisco is a 'go' again. Yay.

As for barefoot running, temporarily on hold until I can be sure that the 'regular' running isn't compromised. To be continued...

Glad things seem to be on the right track again. People need to read this to undertand what is meant by patience when it comes to injuries.

Sounds good. No stress fx for sure for you. When I had my stress fx, I took off nearly 2 weeks right away - I tested a one mile trot, I had some really bad foot pain that got worse the day after from the trial run.

I'd hold off on the barefood shoes for now, I agree.

glad the running is back and going well! hope it continues to do so, and definitely keep yourself in check. don't want you sidelined for too long.

Hey, that's great news man! Good luck and keep it up! Oh, and make sure you're not running differently than normal. Kristen's ankle started bothering her when she recovered from the same fracture you had and I think she subconsciously changed the way she was running to protect it and ended up injuring her ankle in the process. Just a heads up.

Great news! 11 days can be eternity for a runner who is not running. I bet it feels good. As for the barefoot thing, I'm still using my Vibrams practically every day for working out, but haven't 'really' run in them yet. The time will come. BTW it gets easier and easier to put them on.

The body is an awesome thing. That is great that you are back out there running. Hopefully the foot problem will never return.

I'm way behind on blog-reading, but I wanted to say that I'm so happy to hear you are running pain-free!!!

Maybe all that barefoot crap isn't all it's cracked up to be, huh? Especially running in LA...you're gonna get a bottle cap jammed in your foot, buddy!!!
