I'm Ready

Ok, I'm ready for an upgrade. Suffering from serious Garmin 305 (and 405) envy and I'm ready to move on up to play with the big boys and ditch my antiquated 301.

I was initially going to wait until next month (my birthday) to warrant the unnecessary purchase - especially in this economic climate - but I'm not sure that I can. I suppose at the very least, I can start my research early.

So I need your help. I need to find a great deal on the Garmin Forerunner 305 + HR monitor to justify the upgrade. Perhaps some small corner of the internet somewhere known only by you, the select few? Help a brotha out, will ya? Shaw-shank ya.

I would search craigslist or ebay....just out of curiousity, what's the diff between 301 and 305, that you'd want to ditch the 301?

@ Oz - the HR and speed vary too much for my tastes. I'm also looking for more intuitive functionality in terms of setting up workouts and going from screen-to-screen.

Otherwise, I would be perfectly content with what I've got.

I think the 305 is the one to get; have been using it for years and can't say that I've had any problems. Battery life is limited - which I believe is the big advantage of the 405. Many people I run with don't much care for the 405 though.

Ebay is the place to go son. That's where Claude was found and I got the whole thing including the heart rate monitor and everything for 135 and free shipping. Talk about a deal. :) Just email me if you have questions

Help stimulate the economy!

I think Costco sells them too.

My 205 was a gift so I haven't a clue where it was purchased.

Got mine at Costco around Christmas time (actually wifey bought if for me). Thisnk it was around $150. They may have it online as well.

You can buy mine. I used it for six months. It is the Garmin 305 w/HR monitor. I have the box and everything. It's too big for my wrist. Was going to have hubby put it on Craig's list.
You can email me if you want mine!

Amazon, REI or Costco, go for a 305, the 405 has shorter battery life and will probably never see you though an ultra...you're doing another one right!
