...er, eventually.
As of a few minutes ago, I have officially signed up for the San Diego Rock N' Roll Marathon on May 31st. To prepare for it I am embarking on my 2nd Pfitz plan, only shortening the week (12 -with proper base mileage established leading up to it) and lengthing my long runs slightly to deal with the excessive cramping issues in past races.
This will be my 2nd SD marathon after my first race had me falling a bit short of my then sub-4 hour goal (cramps again), crossing the line at 4:04:XX. It's still way early to predict time, but I certainly hope I come within spitting distance of my sub-3:30 goal. We'll see and adjust after Surf City next month and see how my training goes.
ps - thanks again Robert for the discount code!

i still havent signed up but i need to! i wont be trying for a PR or anything there though :)
i really like the 12 week plan, but i am doing the same thing and increasing a couple of the long runs slightly and having a stronger base before i start... fun times :)
@ aron - sent you an email!
Woooo-hoooo another San Diego runner! It is going to be such a fun race...sooo many bloggers!
And it's San Diego, what more could you want??!!
you've planted an evil seed in my head.
Sub 3:30-you are my hero!!! I have a few people that want me to runSan Diego...but I usually run the Country Music Half-since that is where my family lives so I don't think I'll run San Diego...but since I'm close maybe I'll come down and cheer all of you on!!
I'm thinking of running the Surf City Half...it's the week after the Carlsbad Half that I'm running in 2 weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for overcast weather!!!
I've been following your blog for awhile and really enjoy it. You inspired me to start my own. I'm a year behind where you are with your progress and am planning on starting my first Pfitz cycle (18/55) next week. I'll be running the Rock and Roll as well, hoping to break the 4 hour barrier. Thanks for sharing all your wisdom with the rest of us!
One of my friends from the East coast BQ'd at San Diego! You are going to have a great time. Heard lots of good things about it.
Everyone is doing this race! You'll be in good company. :)
@ Danica - 3 words...just. do. it.
@ SB Girl - haven't come close to a sub-3:30 yet...no need to crown me yet!
@ Joe - my 'wisdom'?? You sure you have the right blog? Hehe...awfully nice of you to say, although not deserving of it at all. So glad to hear you're going to attack this marathon thing head on with the aid of good ol' Pfitz. Hope we get to meet in SD!
Oooh, congratulations.
That was my very first and only marathon.
I think it's much more enjoyable for faster runners because there's lots of entertainment and support but for the slowpokes, it gets long and boring. Heh.
I'm in as well! I'll see you at the finish line again... if you wait that long. =)
3rd time is the charm, right? ;-)
CONGRATS! Now go get that 3:30!
Hurray!!! We can hate 12-week Pfitz together! ;-)
I'm doing the same thing...I think Pfitz 18/55 is just way too long to ask of myself, so I'm planning on 12 with about 4 weeks of seriously dedicated base-training.
If I don't get to at least shake your hand and take a pic with you at this race, I will never make you a sign again. :P
hooray for another SD marathon runner! I am going to be doing the 12/55 plan as well, but this will be my 1st time around so I will definitely be following your blog! :)
sweet! i'd love to run this one, but it'd require a lot of logistical planning and i still suck at that. one day, one day. good luck this weekend in houston, even though i know you're not going for a pr - have fun and hope your friend does well!
Great goal. SD is a great destination marathon, even if it is only 2 hours away.
