Tempo Thursday

7 1/2 mile run, 4 miles @ tempo pace.

Mile 1 = 9:04
Mile 2 = 9:29
Mile 3 = 7:53
Mile 4 = 8:06
Mile 5 = 7:59
Mile 6 = 7:22

Mile 7 = 9:18
Mile 7.61 = 5:36

Tempo paces were definitely slower today but I was really trying to keep my heart rate from redlining. I also added an extra mile to my tempos and I've spent all day bicycling around town so the legs were already a bit fatigued. But I felt fine overall.

Still on the fence about PV. It's getting hotter here in Southern Cal and at last check, the high for this Saturday in Palos Verdes is expected to be in the mid to upper 80's. Yikes.

Looks like it's going to be a game day decision.

Looks good on those tempos Burger, especially considering your recent LR.

I'm on the Pfitz plan, and it has me tapering from 70 to 58 to 40 to 30. You'll be proportionally less with less mileage. I'm going 17 tomorrow and then 13 next weekend as the final 2 LRs. Probably will be a mix of MP and easy running, with more emphasis on easy at this stage.

I'm still going hard on the VO2 intervals next week, though. Definitely have to be careful about not getting injured now though - run at the same intensity you've been doing on those hard repeats, no harder. If you go faster, it's all good, but I wouldn't "go for the gold" at this point in workouts.
